"My daughter’s name is Johnny Sequoyah, named for the tribal leader who also inspired a former California governor to name the Sequoia tree.  When she was thirteen we felt a best right-of-passage would be to visit the Sequoia trees, a place that for the rest of her life she could source for power, connection and peace.  I took this picture of her standing in front of a tree, looking up, contemplating a young woman’s life."-Heather Rae Priest
