KARL LARSEN-SLASH + STEVEN TYLER
Steven Tyler singing with Slash, Duff McKagan, and Matt Sorum of Guns N’ Roses perform live at the Key club on April 29, 2002 in West Hollywood on the Sunset strip. This was an All-Star benefit for the drummer Randy Castillo, who had just died in March 2002. He was the drummer for Ozzy Osbourne from 1986 until 1999.
I was personally invited by Randy Castillo‘s fiancé who I happen to be best friends with. I was one of only two photographers there and the only photographer that still had film in his camera by the time Steven Tyler had taken the stage. These images were emailed (after I developed them) to Rollingstone Magazine. They were so excited for me to get these pictures. This exact frame was my very first Rollingstone Magazine image that they used. They were so impressed that I was on the inside track for what happens out on the Sunset strip that they started to give me assignments almost immediately after I taken this picture.. such as covering the doors of the 21st century and the Sammy Hagar and David Lee Roth dual concert. Lost the Original negative. Last and only image of its kind! one of one!
